Mobile Gaming
Posted on Jun 03, 2011 under Uncategorized | No CommentWith the creation of mobile phones, people were at first just amazed of the fact that they could call with a wireless phone. But as we progressed towards the end of the 20th century, people started to expect more from mobile phones than just making calls. So mobile gaming was introduced and it quickly captivated the audience all over the world. Nokia tried to create its own mobile gamin platform. It wanted to do this with the N-Gage in 2003 but it was not possible to combine the technology of a cell phone and a handheld gaming platform at that time.
Now-a-days, mobile gaming has progressed a lot. The graphics are the same as of a 4th or 5th generation gaming console. The games take a lot of memory but still remain popular. Common examples are Tetris and Solitaire. After the integration of 3D APls, the mobile gaming world started launching its own brand games like Real Soccer, Assault Team 3D, Crash Arena 3D, etc.
But the appetite for mobile gaming has increased to a level that it has had a significant shift in consumer attitudes and could possibly have a big impact on the video game business. More than one third of U.S. and U.K. adults play mobile games. About 44% of mobile phone gamers said, in a survey, that they played games mostly on their phones. Only 21% said they played on consoles and 30% on PCs. Total global revenue from mobile games was estimated at $2.6 billion in 2005 by Informa Telecoms and Media. Total revenue in 2008 was $5.8 billion!
